Kindness Advent

As we prepare for this Christmas I wanted to be intentional in what we emphasized to the boys. It is easy to get caught up in this sense of entitlement and materialism that surrounds us everywhere. I find myself falling short in this area often and continually have to ask for forgiveness for my selfish nature.  With that being said I wanted ways that Lucas and Owen could be the hands and feet of Christ. Where they could daily begin to look at others and less at themselves.

I came across the idea of doing a kindness advent on a blog called Pitter Patter Art. You can link to it here http://pitterpatterart.com/kindness-advent/. I loved the idea and decided it would be just what we needed this Christmas Holiday. I made all the pieces tonight and then Drew and I came up with twenty-four ideas that we thought would be meaningful to the boys, as well as ourselves. He typed them up and I hung everything so that we could begin tomorrow.

I love how it turned out
I can't wait to get started and I pray that God will use this to open our eyes to others and and that we may be a gift to those we come into contact with. Tomorrow we start by making goodies for the neighbors.

Thirty- One Fundraiser

One of the added bonus' to our adoption and this journey is that we get to meet and know fellow adoptive parents. When we first started our paperwork process we were looking for creative ways to fund raise to help bring Kennedy home. We knew we would carry much of the financial costs and we were prepared for that but we thought if we could raise some additional funds to help that would be great to.

Skip forward 9 months or so and we had the pleasure of working with Angie Mohr a fellow AWAA adoptive mommy and thirty-one consultant. I cannot say enough kind words about the whole process of working with Angie on this fundraiser. Being a teacher and having a type A personality, you would have thought that I would be very familiar with thirty-one. Needless to say this was my first time hosting a catalog party and I think it turned out to be very successful  We were able to add over 100.00 dollars to our adoption fund and I walked away with some sweet bags as an added bonus. That's my kind of party!!

Thanks again Angie for everything  It was a true blessing and just another reminder of God's continued provision through this journey. We look forward to walking this path together with you and wait with much anticipation to hear of your referral.

If you would like to contact Angie I'm sure you can reach her through her blog at thecellardoorstories.blogspot.com.
